3rd party recovery cos. have long been a favorite of the large corps. for turn-key business recovery solutions, largely based on the model of mainframe recovery solutions.
More recently, as BCP activities have become more commonplace, time-to-recover windows have been narrowed through more directed bcp-type risk and business impact analyses. The fact that 3rd party recovery sites cannot guaranty local recovery and that other types of off-the-shelf recovery solutions can be cost-prohibitive when looking to achieve aggressive recovery schedules is leading more large cos. to consider in-house recovery solutions and risk mitigation routines to offer reduced risk of recovery failure, and most-often to be more cost-effective.
