Hi guys,

We've been trying to go through the process of starting up with a good DR company, so we had a couple of meetings with Sungard to see what they could offer.

Firstly, they got our company name wrong on the cheaply put together proposal calling us 'Trading Places' and then they called us 'TTT Money Corp', not even bothering to delete the name of the previous company's proposal!

The initial costs of desk space and IT infrastructure looked reasonable, but looking further into it they had some ridiculously high extra charges, for example, getting a Ghost license and saving a single image at a cost of £1000 per year! Ghost is only £25 for a single license.

Then you have the contention ratios. We were offered office space at a contention of 25:1. Basically, if a bomb went off anywhere in the City we wouldn't stand a chance of getting a desk.

I found them very amateur considering the size and reputation of the company. Luckily, as we're only a small outfit we took our business to a company called Sentronex based in The City of London. They specialise in small financials and have provided us with 30 seats in a nice office in Southwark which is contended at 3:1. But they said that could provide dedicated seating if we required it. All this, plus a fixed monthly fee and a completely tailored package to suit us. We've now had our first DR test and it went very smoothly. Fingers crossed we'll never have to invoke, but I'm safe in the knowledge that we've got somewhere to go if a disaster ever occurs.

Let me know if you need their contact details.
