Around the world in 2010

Mud, Haiti, below ground, oil and smoke were words and phrases that dominated emergency management in 2010.

The year started with mudslides in South America and appears to be ending with them there and in Asia, as weather systems set new records for rainfall in many parts of the world. In the northern hemisphere, winter appears to have come early and hit hard, adding further discussion to the climate change debate.

The important message for the EM profession is that lessons identified are turned into lessons learned.
