Standards: BCI Updates Good Practice Guidelines
The Business Continuity Institute recently announced the release of an updated version of its business continuity Good Practice Guidelines. Designated as GPG2008-2, the latest version of the GPG is considered an interim update. The BCI plans to publish a completely rewritten version in 2010.
In a statement published in its January members’ newsletter, the BCI said, “The BCI has decided to undertake a major review and extension of the Good Practice Guidelines during the course of 2009 with a view to relaunching them as GPG 2010. Although the basic principles and concepts will not change, the BCI feels that a more comprehensive publication is now needed to reflect both the needs of our international membership and also the emergence of important new BCM standards around the world.
The BCI added, “However, we felt that given the extended period between the launch of GPG2008 and the anticipated launch of GPG2010, it was important to have an interim review of GPG2008 to ensure it is still up to date and that any changes due to the launch of BS25999-2 had been properly addressed.”
