MTPD: what business continuity professionals think about it and how they calculate it
Continuity Central recently conducted a survey to discover what the views of business continuity professionals are about the MTPD (maximum tolerable period of disruption) concept, which was introduced by BS 25999.
The majority of respondents (87 percent) believe that they understand the MTPD concept . 10 percent aren’t sure whether they understand it and 3 percent do not understand what MTPD is.
Overall 56.5 percent of respondents think that MTPD is a useful concept. 21.5 percent say that it is not useful and 22 percent are unsure.
Exactly 50 percent of respondents’ organizations are using MTPDs within the business continuity planning process and 48 percent are not.
