Free Disaster Recovery Guide offered
Residents and business owners affected by storms and flooding face major challenges in recovering from their losses. The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants has prepared a Disaster Recovery Guide in hopes of providing at least a measure of assistance for those in crisis.
The objective is:
- To help individuals and families with replacing lost or damaged personal documents so they can begin the process of putting their lives back in order.
- To assist businesses with the process of recouping some of their losses.
The Guide is designed to assist disaster victims with many of the details involved in the recovery process, including documenting losses for tax and insurance purposes, and replacing personal identification papers. The guide includes Internal Revenue Service forms and publications for use in filing casualty loss claims, instructions for replacing personal documents, such as birth certificates, drivers’ licenses and Social Security cards, and tips on documenting damage and losses for insurance claims.
