SunGard Availability Services publishes 2010 UK invocation analysis


SunGard Availability Services  released its sixth annual analysis of major causes of business disruption in the UK.  The office is now firmly the main source of business disruption, with almost three times as many problems caused by workplace incidents such as power and communication failures than by technology failures involving hardware or other IT issues.

Australian SMBs are only marginally better prepared for disasters than those around the world.


A survey conducted by Applied Research for Symantec suggests that “some 43% of businesses across Australia and New Zealand don’t have a disaster recovery plan in place,” according to Steve Martin, head of SMB products for Symantec’s Pacific operation.

2010 CDW Business Continuity Straw Poll: Resiliency Plans Don’t Align with Reality


CDW LLC, a provider of technology solutions to business, government, education and healthcare, announced the results of its Business Continuity Straw Poll, based on a survey of 200 Information Technology (IT) decision makers at medium and large U.S. businesses, each of which experienced significant network disruptions since July 2009. The survey investigated how their businesses reacted to the disruptions and the measures they are taking to improve their business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) capabilities for the future.
