BSI and ASIS to Partner on U.S. Standard

BSI British Standards has announced that it will collaborate with ASIS International on the development of an American Standard for business continuity management. The standard will be based on the BS 25999 business continuity standard and will, according to BSI, “eliminate confusion in the marketplace by providing a unified approach to business continuity management on both sides of the Atlantic”.

BSI also said that “there will be reciprocity between the two standards, thus allowing companies to start building their BCM program immediately, using an already mature BS 25999 framework without having to wait for the new American Standard.”

ASIS and BSI are seeking input from business continuity professionals to develop membership on the technical committee that will draft and critique the new standard. Interested parties should contact ASIS at guidelines@asisonline.org.
